Lumineer Dental Procedures
LUMINEERS are porcelain veneers that do not require removing the tooth structure. LUMINEERS are a terrific cosmetic solution for permanently stained, chipped, discolored, misaligned teeth, or even to revitalize old crown and bridgework. LUMINEERS are porcelain veneers that can be made as thin as a contact lens and are placed over existing teeth without the removal of sensitive tooth structure that traditional veneers require. LUMINEERS can only be made from patented cerinate porcelain and can only be applied by a LUMINEERS-certified dentist. In just two visits to the dentist, LUMINEERS provides a custom-made smile clinically proven to last up to 20 years.
Frequently Asked Questions
Am I candidate for lumineers?
Lumineers may be right for you if you are looking for an alternative to crowns and caps. Lumineers can help you if you have gaps between your teeth or teeth that are broken, chipped, irregularly shaped or misaligned. To find out more about whether Lumineers are right for you, contact your cosmetic dentist to schedule a consultation.
What should I expect when I get lumineers?
Before Lumineers can be placed on the teeth, the surface of the teeth must be prepared for bonding. After administering a local anesthetic, your dentist will buff away approximately half a millimeter from the surface of the teeth. You’ll then bite into a mold that will be used to form your Lumineers in a dental lab. When the Lumineers are ready, you’ll be asked to return to have them fitted, bonded and adjusted for shape and color.
What do the post-care instructions entail?
There is no special care required for Lumineers, and normal brushing and flossing can be resumed immediately. Because Lumineers are usually placed over the course of two appointments, it is normal to experience some sensitivity between the first and second visit when the teeth have been reduced in preparation for bonding.
