If you have some mild tooth pain, your problem can probably wait until the next morning. If you lose a tooth or experience unrelenting dental pain, chances are you cannot wait until tomorrow to see the dentist. It is not always easy to distinguish a routine dental problem from a true dental emergency, but the following information will help you tell the difference.
The good news is that dental emergencies are relatively rare, and there are only a small number of problems that truly constitute an emergency. If you experience any of these problems, you should call our office right away at 772-207-1213. If it is after office hours, our on-call staff person will take your information and give you further instructions for getting treated. If you are unable to reach a staff member, you should call 911 for further instructions.
The following situations constitute a true dental emergency, and you should call our office right away at 772-207-1213 if you experience any of these:
A seriously bitten lip or tongue
One or more broken or cracked teeth
A broken jaw
A permanent tooth that has been knocked out
An object trapped between the teeth
A severe toothache
If you are unable to reach us, you should call 911 for further instructions
